Crossing Java Island

Upon arrival at Jakarta Airport, your French-speaking guide will warmly welcome you before transferring you to your transit hotel for a smooth introduction to Indonesia.

In the morning, transfer to Carita and visit the historic Cikoneng lighthouse, built in 1885.

Continue to Tangkuban Perahu (2,076 m, meaning “overturned boat”), dominating the northern skyline of Bandung. Enjoy a walk along its ridges and slopes to observe intense geothermal activity and endemic vegetation.

In the afternoon, visit the Geological Museum of the Indonesian Volcanological Center.

Trekking time: approx. 1.5 hours

Transfer to Papandayan Volcano across the volcanic chain.

Explore the nearby Kamojang crater with its steaming geysers, bubbling mud pools, sulfur deposits, and constant geothermal activity.

Continue to the Kamojang geothermal field, located within a vast caldera. Return to your hotel in the evening.

Morning transfer to Galunggung Volcano for a scenic hike around the crater.

Learn about the dramatic 1982 eruption, when massive lahars forced over 30,000 people to evacuate.

In the afternoon, transfer to Baturaden, located at the foot of Mount Slamet, for relaxation in a natural setting.

Trekking time: approx. 1 hour

Start the day with a scenic walk through diverse landscapes: traditional villages, rice terraces, wild rivers, and lush tropical forests.

Enjoy a relaxing moment in natural hot springs, with the option of a sulfur mud reflexology massage by a local therapist.

In the afternoon, transfer to Wonosobo.

Morning transfer to the Dieng Plateau, a cultivated volcanic highland rich in archaeological heritage, including ancient Hindu temples.

Continue to Borobudur, built between the 8th and 9th centuries under the Sailendra dynasty, the largest Buddhist monument in the world.

In the evening, transfer to Yogyakarta.

Cultural Exploration of Yogyakarta

Morning dedicated to exploring Yogyakarta, the cultural heart of Java.

Visit the Sultan’s Palace (built in 1756), stroll through the city, discover Taman Sari (the former Water Palace), and explore workshops of traditional puppetry and batik.

In the afternoon, visit the Central Volcano Observatory to learn more about Mount Merapi.

A full day dedicated to studying Mount Merapi and the impact of its 2010 eruption.

From a viewpoint at 1,200 meters on the eastern slope, observe the destruction left behind and analyze the Gendol River valley, shaped by pyroclastic flows.

Visit the Merapi Museum and the refugee center built after the eruption.

End the day at Prambanan Temple, Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple complex.

Morning transfer to the Malang region via highway, then continue by 4x4 into the Tengger caldera.

This dramatic landscape is home to Mount Bromo (2,329 m), with its constant fumaroles and vast “sea of sand.”

If conditions allow, hike to Mount Bromo before returning to Cemorolawang with stunning views over Bromo and Semeru.

In the middle of the night, depart by 4x4 across the sea of sand to reach Mount Pananjakan (2,755 m).
