  • In the early morning you are back on the road to head Batukaru temple, situated on the slopes of the eponymous volcano (2.270 m). It rises amidst lush greenery, where several multi-tiered 'meru' towers stand, some dating back to the 17th century, dedicated to the ancestors of the Tabanan dynasty and the local protective deities. Later, you take small village roads heading west, winding around the flanks of the old volcano, towards Belimbing, surrounded by some of the most breathtaking terraced rice fields on the island.

Then, at Pujungan, you take a right turn to leave behind the 'civilized' areas and explore the lesser-known parts of the island. The picturesque surroundings include coffee and clove plantations near forests and waterfalls. You finally reach your destination for the day,Munduk, located in a historically rich region of Bali, considered the birthplace of Balinese culture.   • Today's trek takes you to Candi Kuning, along the Tamblingan and Buyan volcanic lakes. These two lakes were once a single body of water until the huge landslide of 1818 permanently separated them. This magnificent hike is an opportunity to discover local agricultural and cultural life, as you walk along and through the island's beautiful tropical forests. You will visit the superb Hindu-Buddhist temple of Ulun Danau. This is an enchanting place, with its huge banyan tree at the entrance and its superb gardens. One of the temples is tucked away on a small island, its 11-storey roof elegantly reflected in the waters of the lake. You then take the pulse of Bedugul's picturesque market́, before continuing our route to the village of Catur, situated halfway between Lake Bratan and the Mt Batur caldera.

  • You take the road to the caldera Batur Volcano (1,725m), passing through a region renowned for its coffee plantations. From Penelokan, you enjoy a breathtaking view of the 14-kilometer-long caldera. Its impressive size reflects the volcano’s tumultuous past and suggests that it once surpassed the current height of Mount Agung. At your feet, the cone of Mount Batur rises in the heart of this vast caldera, which is half covered by Bali’s largest lake and half by plantations and lava fields—remnants of the 1917 and 1926 eruptions. You then descend into the caldera to get a closer look at the lava flows. Near the lake, you can take a break and relax in soothing hot springs.

Total immersion in everyday Balinese life: cooking, making offerings, dancing, music… At the heart of a Balinese family, you will go to the market́, to buy the ingredients needed to prepare the meal. You then return home, where you will spend the majoritý of the day exchanging ideas and taking part in the various activities of everyday Balinese life such as making tuak (a traditional beer made from fermented rice or palm sap, yeast, and sugar), preparing offerings. You will then take part in a cooking class, which you will taste.

    In the afternoon, you head towards Tampaksiring to visit Gunung Kawi temple. This site is undoubtedly one of the most impressive in Bali, with the 9 tombs of King Wungsu’s family carved into the cliffside.

    You will also visit Tirta Empul and its sacred pools, where hundreds of Balinese come daily to purify themselves. Finally, you return to your hosts via the lesser-known Gunung Kawi Sebatu temple, a true haven of peace nestled in lush nature.
