Today you begin your gentle crossing of Bali with a relatively easy route (although you are heading towards the highlands) to The terraced rice fields of Tabanan (Jatiluwih rice fields), a small village nestled in the heart of Bali's most beautiful rice fields, in the central-western part of the island. After quickly passing through the Tabanan agglomeration, you soon find yourself on a small winding road that gradually climbs towards the Jatiluwih region.

Opportunity to stop at hot springs little known to foreign visitors and in small typical villages, as you gain altitude. Then, approaching your destination, you travel through magnificent landscapes of terraced rice fields, which you can explore on foot in the afternoon, if you have time remaining.

Early in the morning, you resume your journey towards, firstly, theLuhur Batukaru Temple, located on the slopes of the eponymous volcano (2,270 m).

It emerges in a lush green setting where several "meru" with multiple roofs stand, some dating back to the 17th century, dedicated to the ancestors of the Tabanan dynasty and to local protective deities.

Later, you take small village roads heading west and skirting the slopes of the old volcano, towards Belimbing, surrounded by some of the island's most breathtaking terraced rice fields.

Today you take the road heading north towards Bali. It crosses superb terraced rice field landscapes, then, at Pujungan, you turn right to move away from the "civilization" and explore lesser-known parts of the island. Mount Batukaru still watches over you, but you quickly move away from it as you continue your journey northward and towards, this time, highland plantation landscapes, which indeed form a picturesque scene with its coffee and clove plantations near forests and waterfalls.

You finally arrive at your destination for the day, Munduk, situated in a region of Bali rich in history, considered the cradle of Balinese culture. The former Dutch colonists loved to stay there on holiday, from the old colonial capital of Singaraja (on the north coast). Possibility of a walk around the village in the afternoon, to discover the beauty of the surrounding nature.

Your journey today takes you to Candi Kuning, along the volcanic lakes Tamblingan and Buyan. These two lakes were once a single body of water until the enormous landslide of 1818 separated them permanently.

This magnificent hike is an opportunity to discover the local agricultural and cultural life, while walking along and crossing the beautiful tropical forests of the island. You visit the superb Hindu-Buddhist temple of Ulun Danau. This place is enchanting, with its immense banyan tree at the entrance and its superb gardens.

One of the temples is tucked away on a small island, and its 11-level roof is elegantly reflected in the waters of the lake. You then take the pulse of the picturesque market of Bedugul, before returning to your hotel nearby.

You resume your electric mountain bike this morning heading towards the small village of Catur, nestled between the old Mangu volcano and the Mt Batur caldera massif.

The road crosses several impressive canyons, which means you will alternate climbs and descents.

You discover in any case unpublished landscapes, because the region is dotted with orange tree plantations and other altitude plantations.

This morning, you take the road to the Mt Batur caldera (1,725m), through a region renowned for its coffee plantations. From Penelokan, you enjoy an exceptional view of the caldera, measuring 14 km long.

This imposing size testifies to the volcano's tumultuous past and a size that once must have exceeded that of the current Agung. At your feet, you discover the cone of the Mont Batur in the middle of an immense caldera occupied halfway by Bali's largest lake and covered on its other half by plantations and lava fields, remnants of the eruptions of 1917 and 1926.

You then descend into the caldera to get a closer look at the lava flows. Near the lake where you can rest and enjoy pleasant hot water springs.

Today, you take detours heading towards the northeast of Bali. This region is probably the poorest in Bali and you take the opportunity to make a few stops in villages that rarely see foreign travelers pass through.

Later, you reach the Tianjar savanna, a landscape that contrasts with the rest of Bali, which is much more humid.

You resume biking early this morning, and you first ride along the corniche that borders the northeast coast of the island.

After a good lunch in Amed, a small fishing village renowned for its salt exploitation, you venture inland by skirting the flanks of an old volcano to reach the sacred springs of Tirtagangga. Officially known as Tirta Ayu, this complex of freshwater pools was one of the many aquatic palaces built by a king of Karangasem.

Free morning to rest. Early in the afternoon, you continue your journey towards the east of Bali, bypassing notably the Agung volcano. and heading towards Sidemen, one of the most beautiful valleys in Bali (numerous rice fields, salak plantations and weaving workshop-houses of the famous ikats…).

Early in the morning, you have the opportunity to take a beautiful walk on the slopes of the hills in the southeast of the island, which offer you a superb view of both Mount Agung volcano and the Indian Ocean.

Early in the afternoon, you continue on the road towards the surroundings of Ubud, during which you will have the opportunity to visit the Pura Kehen temple in Bangli, one of the most revered temples in Bali. Its vegetable garden and its temple with eleven "meru" make it a place filled with spirituality and traditions.

Later, before arriving at your day's destination, you will pass by the famous terraced rice fields of Tegalalang, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site (as are those of Jatiluwih).

Finally, a family of Balinese artists welcomes you into their traditional home and offers you a meal, equally typical, accompanied by Balinese dances.

Today, traditions and sharing will be honored. Total immersion in daily Balinese life: cooking, making offerings, dance, music… In the heart of a Balinese family, you go to the market to buy the ingredients necessary for meal preparation. Then return to the house, where you will spend most of the day exchanging and participating in various activities of daily Balinese life: coffee making, preparation of offerings. You then participate in a cooking class that you will taste. In the afternoon, you head towards Tampaksiring, to visit the temples of Temple of Gunung Kawi. This site is surely the most impressive in Bali with the 9 tombs of the family of King Wungsu, carved into the cliff. Also visit Tirta Empul and its sacred pools where hundreds of Balinese come each day to purify themselves. Finally return to your hosts via the little-known temple of Gunung Kawi Sebatu, which is a true haven of peace in the midst of lush nature.

After saying goodbye to your host family, you head to Ubud, to discover Bali's cultural capital and its surroundings. In Ubud, elegant temples and palaces with sculpted facades line the streets.

During your city stroll, you discover Puri Saren and the details of its wooden doors, Pura Saraswati and the finesse of its ornamentations, Pura Puseh and its splendid sculptures as well as many other museums and galleries. Another tourist curiosity in Ubud, slightly set back from the city center, is the "monkey forest" temple.
