History

Bandungan was once a temporary camp for Dutch soldiers, thanks to the large water reservoir located there. Later, when soldiers began subjugating the Semarang region, a handful of survivors took refuge in this place and named it Bandungan, meaning "dam" or water reservoir. Even after the Dutch departed, these refugees refused to leave. Over time, others joined them, and in this way, the village of Bandungan was formed.

Climate

Bandungan enjoys a stable warm and humid equatorial climate year-round, with temperatures ranging between 25 and 32 °C. There are two distinct seasons. The dry season runs from April to October and the rainy season from November to March. The best time to visit is between September and October, the driest months of the year.

Bandungan is located approximately 45 km from Semarang. Count on roughly one hour by car to make the journey.
