Today, an emerging attraction, gateway to the Togian archipelago

Travelers wishing to visit the Togian Islands and their stunning beaches have made it a habit to charter a boat from Ampana's port. Built entirely of wood, the waterfront promenade traverses and connects the city's houses. These structures extend far out over the water, forming docks and quays. Maritime transport options are eclectic. It all depends on your preferences. Speedboats, pleasure yachts, romantic vessels, and more. Every day except Friday, boats depart from Ampana at 9 a.m., arriving in Wakai four hours later.

In recent years, traveler habits have begun to shift. Charmed by the landscape and the warmth of the locals, many are extending their stays in the city. Mass tourism barely exists in Ampana yet. Nevertheless, hotels of every category number in the dozens throughout the locality. You're spoiled for choice. Resorts, cottages, bungalows, holiday centers—all available. The gastronomy here is equally diverse.

Ampana's Climate

With an equatorial climate, the city records an average temperature of 29°C each year. Rain shapes daily life for residents. The seasons with heavy rainfall span March through June. December and May are marked by persistent showers. For better weather conditions, plan your visit between July and November.

By air via Poso or Luwuk airport. Buses shuttle between these terminals and Ampana. The journey takes between 4 and 6 hours. Time to unwind in the car and enjoy the scenery.

A direct flight connects Paris Beauvais airport to Makassar. One caveat: to reach Ampana from this terminal, you'll need to travel by bus for about ten hours.

Getting Around the City

In Ampana, public transport handles most of the movement for residents and visitors. Options are plentiful and depend on your budget. Bemos, buses—the best means of getting around remains taxi or car rental. Excursions are quick and private.

Ventures out to sea require speedboats or ferries.
