Temples, fêtes traditionnelles, arts martiaux et cuisine légendaire.

Choisir de voyager pour la culture et les traditions en Indonésie, c'est accepter que chaque île raconte une histoire différente. L'archipel compte plus de 17 000 îles et 300 groupes ethniques, du peuple Batak du lac Toba aux Sasak de Lombok, en passant par les Toraja des hauts plateaux de Sulawesi.

À Java, les temples de Borobudur et Prambanan témoignent d'un dialogue millénaire entre bouddhisme et hindouisme. Borobudur, érigé au IXe siècle, déploie 2 672 panneaux sculptés et 504 statues de Bouddha. À Yogyakarta, le sultanat veille encore sur le kraton et les ateliers de batik, inscrit au patrimoine immatériel de l'UNESCO depuis 2009. Nos guides francophones connaissent les artisans qui travaillent encore la cire selon les techniques ancestrales.

Bali offre un autre visage : celui d'un hindouisme insulaire rythmé par les offrandes quotidiennes (canang sari), les cérémonies de purification à Tirta Empul et les processions Galungan. Les rizières d'Ubud et Jatiluwih perpétuent le subak, système d'irrigation communautaire vieux de plus de mille ans.
