On the east coast of Gili Air, approximately 700 meters from the village center, Villa Coco Republic brings together around ten thatched-roof bungalows facing the lagoon. The establishment, rated 3-star, is run by a young Indonesian manager and his English-speaking team.

Atmosphere

The complex embraces tropical simplicity: natural materials, wood, thatch, rattan furniture and palm fronds. The layout, as a landscaped garden along the waterfront, maintains a human scale. The pace remains unhurried, true to Gili Air, which is quieter than its neighbor Trawangan. In the evening, you hear mainly the sound of waves and the occasional cidomo—traditional horse-drawn carts that serve as transport on the island (no cars or scooters on the Gili Islands).

The bungalows

Two categories are available:

• Deluxe Villa: one queen-size bed, for two people
• Deluxe One-bedroom Villa: two single beds, suitable for a couple or two travelers sharing the room

Each bungalow has an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and toiletries, air conditioning, a safe, flat-screen TV and wifi access. Children are welcome, though no rollaway beds are provided.

Dining and services

The on-site Sedjiwa restaurant serves a menu blending Indonesian cuisine, international dishes and pizzas. Continental breakfast is included in most packages. For variety, the Bambu Beach Bar is located about 100 meters away, right on the beach.

The team organizes snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing trips, bicycle rentals, canoeing, kayaking and Indonesian cooking classes upon request. Wifi is free throughout the property.

Location

Villa Coco Republic is situated on the eastern coast of Gili Air, about ten minutes' walk from the ferry terminal and village center. The crossing to Gili Trawangan takes about 6 km, and 8 km to Tanjung on the north coast of Lombok. From Bali, access is by fast boat from Padang Bai or Serangan (2 to 3 hours' crossing depending on sea conditions).
