Welcome to Bali!

AéroportUbud

1h2040 km

Arrival at Denpasar airport and transfer to Ubud, a city located on the hills north of Denpasar, in a rolling landscape of lush rice fields and ravines. Ubud is renowned for its painting school. Despite the exponential tourist development it has experienced in recent years, the city has managed to preserve its tranquility and beauty.

The rest of the day is free.

Balinese temples

This morning you visit the Ubud Palace - an emblematic historical complex of Balinese history where the royal family once resided. Just opposite is the craft market, where you can find all sorts of souvenirs.

Stop at the village of Tampaksiring to visit the temples of Gunung Kawi. This site is surely the most impressive in Bali with the 9 tombs of the family of King Wungsu, carved into the cliff face. Visit to Tirta Empul Temple and its sacred pools where hundreds of Balinese come each day to purify themselves.

Continue towards Penelokan, a high-altitude village that offers breathtaking views of the lake and Batur volcano. You have lunch on the edge of the Batur caldera (lunch not included) and enjoy an exceptional panorama.

You then head to the Kehen Temple.

Return to Ubud in the early evening where you can stroll freely through the village.

In the Heart of Bali

You visit Pura Taman Ayun a state temple located in Mengwi. It is one of the only temples where royal ancestral deities are celebrated. Its peaceful gardens, its architecture with its alignment of stone carvings make it a place where calm and serenity reign.

Transfer then to Jatiluwih, a small village located in the midst of Bali's most beautiful rice fields, in the centre-west part of the island. You then begin, in early afternoon, a superb hike through this vast ocean represented by the terraced rice fields that surround you.

You also visit Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, one of Bali's wonders. This place is enchanting, with its immense banyan tree at the entrance and its superb gardens. One of the temples is tucked away on a small island, and its 11-level roof is elegantly reflected in the waters of the lake.

You take, to end the day, the pulse of the picturesque market in Bedugul, before heading to your hotel nearby.

Balinese Day

Today, traditions and sharing will be in the spotlight. Total immersion in daily Balinese life: cuisine, making offerings, dance, music… In the heart of a Balinese family, you will go to the market to buy the ingredients needed to prepare the meal.

Return then to the house, where you will spend most of the day exchanging and participating in the various activities of daily Balinese life: coffee making, preparation of offerings. You will then participate in a cooking class that you will taste.

Early in the afternoon, a walking tour through the village and the surrounding nature. Return to the house for a farewell snack with your hosts… A day full of sharing!

Late in the afternoon, we discover the Tanah Lot Temple, which means "Land of the sea" in Balinese. It stands on an islet battered by the ocean waves, it is a pilgrimage site highly prized by tourists and photographers. The Tanah Lot temple was built in the 16th century on the advice of the famous Javanese priest Danghyang Nirartha to pay homage to the guardian spirits of the sea. This remarkable site benefits, moreover, from one of the most splendid sunsets on the island.

Feet in the water

You can spend the morning exploring the island on foot or by bike. This excursion will allow you to discover the most peaceful beaches on the island as well as the small restaurants and bars along the water.

Take your mask and snorkel and head out to discover the underwater world from the beach. At Gili, there are plenty of fish but not only that. You will surely encounter several sea turtles during your snorkeling adventure, considered to be the oldest inhabitants of the island.

And if you prefer to spend time with your loved one, have a cocktail or fresh coconut and relax with your feet in the sand. The Gili islands are also made for that!

Continuation towards the cave of the Goa Lawah Temple, founded in 1007 by Empu Kuteran, it has the reputation of bringing good luck. It is one of the nine directional temples of Bali (called "kayangan jagat") protecting the island against evil spirits. The main attraction is the bat colony and the legends associated with it.

Then, a short stop at the fishing village of Kusamba, in particular to discover its black sand beach and traditional salt harvesting methods.

Next, it is in the town of Klungkung that you visit the court of justice where the punishments once inflicted on outlaws are depicted, such as threats hanging above the heads of the accused.

You finally continue our route to Sanur where you arrive in the afternoon. Hotel check-in and free evening.

Free day in Sanur which is one of Bali's oldest beach resorts, but has managed to keep its charm and refinement. Sanur's beaches stretch for several kilometers: ideal for a stroll by the water. Sanur's main street is, for its part, a goldmine of small shops and good restaurants.

Make the most of your free time as a couple or with family to swim in the pool or in the sea, discover Balinese massages, take a walk along the beach or in the town center… Dinner and evening are free. (car and driver are extra)
