Today, Aurélien Millot tells us about Shambali wellness center, a sanctuary offering holistic retreats designed for a journey of reconnection with your inner and outer self.

Shambali is a wellness center whose heart is the individual and whose light radiates everywhere. Our mission is to help you find yourself, refocus, and reconnect with your deeper self—becoming more receptive and fully alive to vibrate with life: your surroundings, nature, people. Our guests aspire to achieve inner and outer harmony in this magical place, and we ensure they leave with tools to reactivate these beautiful vibrations in their daily lives, knowing how to nurture and manage them.

Shambali for a Holistic Retreat

Shambali fulfills a long-held vision: offering holistic retreats of 5 to 10 days that allow guests to birth themselves anew. Why and how? What does "holistic" truly mean—a term we hear so often in new-age circles? Yet our approach is decidedly grounded, centered on reconnecting with nature and your deepest nature. The word comes from "holos," meaning "whole." Our programs are designed to be intense and rich, integrating numerous disciplines and modalities to guide travelers toward their path, awakening them to new perceptions and levels of consciousness. It is holistic because the teaching is woven together with a subtle thread connecting all activities—recognizing that things are interwoven and resonate with one another. We offer roughly twenty disciplines, establishing bridges between them: meditation, Kundalini Yoga, Pilates, Qi Gong, Reiki, sound therapy, holotropic breathwork, self-hypnosis, ecstatic dance—all offered as introductions. Our goal is to expand vision, domains of action, and areas of interest. We systematically apply a tripod of learning (TIP) that is theoretical, intuitive, and practical—and beyond that, scientific, artistic, and somewhat spiritual—leaving each person free to open the doors they choose. We honor everyone's pace and convictions.

In an idyllic setting, guests are invited to find themselves through an inner journey. Our mission is to offer as many paths as possible to explore, which is why we offer such a breadth of activities—some will resonate more deeply than others. As the saying goes, all roads lead to Rome, to the dome, or to "Home." It should be noted that most retreats are conducted in English, though we often seek to remember the universal language of the heart.

It is about discovering your true nature at the heart of nature itself: your rightful place in respect and harmony with it, relearning life's essentials, and recovering sight for beauties and sensitivities we have often lost. We will discover mindfulness—remaining more anchored in the present moment, which is a true gift—by activating all five senses (and thereby developing a sixth) to perceive the essence of life. We will seek the inner child who too often slumbers within us, enabling us to dream and marvel at life's magnificence.

Why Bali?

Shambali is indeed the fusion of Shambala and Bali. Bali sits on the equator and is, in a sense, at the center of our world—ideal for teaching the middle path, a harmonious balance and equilibrium in life. Moreover, this island is located on a unique telluric zone brimming with very powerful energy. Beyond this, it offers all the best of Mother Nature: incredible and paradisiacal fauna and flora, as well as a clement climate year-round with gentle variations.

"Shambala," which literally means "place of peaceful happiness" in Sanskrit, appears in numerous beliefs and legends. The "myth" suggests that Shambala is not a physical location, nation, or state, but rather a state of mind. Shambala lives within each of us—a kind of inner harmony that allows access to outer harmony. It is a imaginary place, mythical and mystical, approached not with the eyes but with the heart. It is a sort of paradise, yet one that cannot be exclusively earthly, for it is also celestial.

Elif Shafak once said, "No matter who we are or where we live, deep down we all feel incomplete. It is like having lost something and feeling the need to find it again. What is this 'something'? Most of us will never discover it. And among those who do, even fewer will set out in search of it."

I myself set out in search of this "something" nearly 40 years ago. Travel became my path for 20 years, visiting nearly 70 countries and drawing inspiration from humanity's greatest cultural treasures. I struggled at first to grasp it—to understand it, hold it, and even more, to explain it to others or master it. Perhaps because this "something" can only be real if it is shared. Today, through this collective project, we are able to teach many what this elusive "something" truly is—what so many of us are missing.

Warmly,
