Originally from Northern France, Dominic Clarisse discovered his passion for photography at age 17. After completing his scientific baccalauréat, he undertook several internships at various photography studios in the Lille region. Then, freshly graduated from one of Brussels's most prestigious schools, where he acquired solid training, Dominic seized the opportunity to quench his thirst for photographic adventures.

His very first photo reportage, in 1992, was conducted in West Papua (Indonésie), to immortalize the ancestral rites of several Papuan tribes from the highlands of Irian Jaya. These photographs were then spotted by the renowned Gamma press agency, which decided to distribute them worldwide. Despite his potential for a brilliant career in Europe, Dominic chose to focus on this fabulous Southeast Asian region and has since worked on numerous projects exploring it extensively. He settled there permanently in 1996 and established, in 1999, an adventure travel agency: Azimuth Adventure Travel Ltd.

The first truly English-speaking specialist agency for hiking and volcano climbing in Indonésie, Azimuth Adventure Travel Ltd quickly collaborated with Europe's leading tour operators in this field, such as Allibert Trekking, Huwans, Terres d'Aventure, and others.

In the early days of this great venture, Dominic Clarisse divided his time between the office and leading traveler groups in the field, which allowed him to explore the Indonesian archipelago in its every corner, and consequently, to better share his passion for the country.

A few years later, with growing success, the Azimuth Adventure Travel Ltd team expanded and further developed a spirit dear to them:

Azimuth Adventure Travel Ltd is a Franco-Indonesian company that applies Western standards in terms of service quality and our guides are regularly trained in Western leadership techniques.

Safety
Your safety is our primary objective, constantly on our minds. We therefore collaborate with the best guides, who naturally master Western first aid techniques. We also prefer to lead small groups of a maximum of 10 people, but, if needed, are equally able to provide an additional guide for larger groups.

Respect for Nature

As an adventure and ecotourism company, one of our other priorities is to respect each site we visit, as we have no desire whatsoever to turn Indonesia's trails into dumps. Everyone must of course feel responsible, but we believe we have a moral and social duty to educate in this field that we hold dear.
