Secret Raja Ampat - Azimuth Adventure Travel Ltd

Secret Raja Ampat

The Raja Ampat archipelago (which means "4 kings" in Indonesian) is located in the far east of Indonesia, more specifically in the "Coral Triangle", so named for its rich coral biodiversity. Some experts even claim that the seas surrounding these remote islands may be home to the greatest diversity of coral species in the world!

This is why UNSECO is considering including Raja Ampat on its World Heritage List. It's also the reason why we're inviting you to gently explore this remote fabulous arc...

One of its attractions is the famous "Kali Biru" (blue river), whose scarlet color and purity of water contrasts with the green of the surrounding forest. Return to the homestay in the late afternoon.

Day 3The Passage

Day 3The Passage

  • Depart for a long day of speed-boating, during which you will explore Kabui Bay and its strait known as "The Passage". You will be crossing what Alfred Russel Wallace described as "one of the most picturesque landscapes […] I have ever seen…". To reach it, you’ll head towards the island of Gam, passing a pearl factory. West Papua's most famous strait is a narrow passage of water that separates the islands of Gam and Waigo, with high limestone cliffs on either side. Resembling a river flowing between the two islands, the nutrient-rich waters that are swept along at high speed by the tides are home to a wealth of marine biodiversity. The view is very panoramic and you will have the opportunity to snorkel around this special area, which includes strong currents and mangroves. You will then stop at a small, secluded jetty around Kabui. Later, you'll take advantage of a hidden bay to snorkel above the coral reefs. This bay is another of Raja Ampat's jewels. You reach it via a long, narrow channel dotted with coral reefs and small sharks. This channel then divides into a labyrinth of rocky islands and side bays. Here you can enjoy a magnificent, peaceful lagoon and even a cave where many bats live. There may be a stop at Pef to see some rock paintings, before reaching Alyui Bay.

Day 4Wayag, the icon !

You can also climb 2 summits (designed for trekkers in excellent physical condition) in order to enjoy a fantastic panorama. Afterwards, you'll enjoy a swim in a warm, tranquil lagoon. Later, you'll head for a secret beach in the middle of the most beautiful lagoon you've ever seen! Camping by the sea.
